Studio Gang architects have agreed to assist the City to study whether a courthouse can be built for less than a $1,000 a square foot (built by the State, in a decision year(s) from now) and whether it can be done in an environmentally sensitive manner. As part of the study, they’ll think through whether a City Hall and a third civic building (a performing arts / expo center getting quite a few mentions) would be a cost-efficient and community-building way to proceed.
Any building at the top of Broadway needs to fully respect the importance of the
location and respond to it in a thoughtful manner.
