MEET SEASIDE POLICE CHIEF ABDUL PRIDGEN
Abdul Pridgen has taken his post as the next City of Seaside Police Chief. He’s passed all the background checks, including multiple on-site reference checks in Fort Worth, Texas and the extensive pre-employment investigation that any Seaside police officer has to clear. Chief Pridgen will begin as a non-sworn Police Chief. Although he’s the most credentialed Police Chief Seaside has had to date, he has to complete six courses, totaling thirty-three hours, to secure a POST waiver. He’ll complete the classes in the months ahead, as they become available.
Chief Pridgen has been anxiously awaiting his first day in Seaside.
“I feel that this is a wonderful fit for the community, the organization and the citizens that align well with my history of transparency, inclusion and collaboration.”
Additionally Chief Pridgen acknowledged that he now has a heightened appreciation for cross-country truckers after driving a moving truck from Fort Wort, Texas to Seaside, California. He looks forward to showing the community that he is approachable, outgoing and enjoys conversing with people face to face to get to know them individually. He is looking forward to helping the City achieve its vision.
The Chief is joined in Seaside by his wife who is equally excited and their newest addition to the family, Monster the cat.
The City of Seaside thanks everyone who participated in the recruitment. Thank you, to the men and women of the Seaside Police Department, for your dedication and professionalism as the recruitment began and proceeded. Thank you – particularly – to Acting Chief Veloz, for doing excellent work with the interim assignment.
