WEST BROADWAY STREET INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - TRAFFIC FLOW CHANGE

Traffic on West Broadway Avenue, between Fremont Boulevard and Del Monte Boulevard will switch to the eastbound lane starting the morning of Monday, January 29th and will flow one-way eastbound. The westbound lane will close on Monday, as construction moves to the north side of Broadway. Drivers are reminded to drive slowly and be alert as construction shifts to the north side.
Electronic message signs will remind drivers of the traffic change at Broadway and Fremont, and also at Broadway and Del Monte.

Parking on Broadway will be available along the south side of the street after the construction switch is complete. West Broadway Avenue currently has 2 hour parking and many of the side streets also have 2 hour parking, which will help customers find parking during construction.

Detour signs will redirect westbound traffic onto Sonoma Avenue and Clementina Avenue. Everyone is reminded to drive carefully.

The project is scheduled for completion in April of 2018.

The West Broadway Urban Village Specific Plan was adopted in 2010. The plan calls for street improvements along Broadway Avenue between Del Monte Boulevard and Fremont Boulevard. The initial grant funding of approximately $7.7 million secured allows the segment of Broadway Avenue from about Hillsdale Street to Fremont Boulevard to be constructed. Improvements include wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes, stormwater upgrades, pedestrian bulb-outs for greater safety, a traffic signal, and one lane of traffic in each direction with on-street parking.
